Kenya Law partners with Kenyatta University School of Law

Kenya Law partnered with Kenyatta University School of Law to realize the 3rd All Kenyan Moot Court Competition

 Kenya Law offered the expertise of two senior Law reporters Ms. Linda Awuor and Ms. Njeri Githanga to be judges at the Moot Court. Kenya Law also donated copies of the Supreme Court Case Digest, pocket size constitutions and promised to publish the winning papers from the winners of the competition. Professor Yash Pal Ghai, a constitutional law expert and the Director of Katiba Institute was the Chief Guest.

Other dignitaries included the Kenyatta University Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic affairs Prof. John Okumu who represented Prof. Olive Mugenda, Vice Chancellor, Kenyatta University.

Others included representatives from UNHCR, Transparency International and various Law firms.

Ghana School of Law quota system branded unfair

Two Professors have called for an end to a quota system at the Ghana School of Law (GSL), which limits the number of entrants into the school to 250.

Legal scholars Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare and Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh took to Facebook Thursday to argue that with over 1000 law students graduating from various universities across the country annually, it was unfair to limit the number of LLB holders who can pursue their professional course at the GSL to 250.

The problem, according to them, is compounded by what they say is a lack of transparent criteria for admitting the 250.

Nigerian Law School Results

The Council of Legal Education, which is the body in charge of the Nigerian Law School, has announced that out of the 2,852 regular students who sat for its May 2015 Bar Final Examinations, only four of them came out with First Class honours.

It gave the names of the four candidates as Fatima Bombom Sani, Genevieve Chinyeaka Mbonu, Adetutu Abisoye Olowu and Reason Emma Abajuo from Abuja, Lagos, Lagos and Enugu campuses respectively.

The Council stated this when it announced the release of the results of both the Bar Final examinations for regular students conducted in May 2015 and the Bar Final Re-sit examinations held in April 2015.

Gambia Bar Association Receives Donation Of Law Books

The organisation The Million Books to the Gambia (MBG), Thomson Reuters and Sir Emeka Offo Foundation last Tuesday donated books to the Gambia Bar Association (GBA), at a presentation ceremony held at the Brikama campus of the University of the Gambia (UTG).

In a statement sent to the Daily Observer, the Gambia Bar Association expressed their sincere gratitude to Million Books to the Gambia, under its project manager, Lamin Dibba and his entire team.

"Million Books to the Gambia is a collaboration of Books for Africa (BFA) and Hand in Health. The founder of Books for Africa, Tom Warth has done a lot of unusual things to promote charity and education, including walking across Minnesota in the USA and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro," the statement revealed.
